a “broad area of low pressure” is likely to develop over the southwestern Caribbean Sea in a few days, and gradual development is possible thereafter.

Forecasters said a tropical depression could form late this week or over the weekend while the system begins to drift northward or northeastward over the southwestern and central Caribbean Sea.

located more than 1,000 miles southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula that is producing “disorganized showers and thunderstorms.”

Forecasters said environmental conditions appear conducive for gradual development of this system, and a tropical depression is “likely to form within the next few days” as the system moves westward or west-northwestward over the western portion of the eastern Pacific basin.

The hurricane center gives this system a 60 percent chance of formation through the next seven days.

Additionally, the NHC said a low pressure system could form within the next day or two several hundred miles south-southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula.

Some slow development of this system is possible thereafter while the system moves slowly toward the west-northwest, according to forecasters, with the system having a 20 percent chance of formation through the next seven days.
