Teens make plea to other young drivers after surviving horror ****** that ******* Nick Campo

As P-Plate drivers face tougher rules behind the wheel, two teenagers who know what losing a mate feels like have made a powerful plea.

Tyler Rowe and Josh Jackson survived the horror ****** that ******* their close friend Nick Campo on July 13 after the ute they were in crashed, rolled and collided with an SUV on Farrington Road.

They never thought it would happen to them and are now sharing their pain — hoping it is heard by other young drivers.

“Just ended up getting in this car because it was a lift and then all of a sudden I’ve just woken up in hospital,” ****** survivor Josh Jackson told 7NEWS.

Tyler Rowe remembered his 18-year-old friend Campo as a “**** at everything he did”.

“…he was just someone you wanted to hang out with because he was such a good bloke,” he said.

“I know every young person watching this would be thinking ‘it’s not going to happen to me’ cause I know it’s definitely what I thought … but we are just proof that it does happen and can happen to anyone.”

As they’ve tried to recover in the months since their ordeal they’ve watched WA’s road toll continue to climb.

Their plea comes as Tom’s Law was introduced, which will see young drivers limited to one passenger in the first six months of their P-Plates.

Drivers can be fined $200 and receive two demerit points if caught with more than one passenger.

Named after 15-year-old Tom Saffioti — who was ******* along with his 17-year-old friend Mark Bogoni when the car they were passengers in hit a kerb and slammed into a tree in Seville Grove in 2021 — the passenger restrictions will come into effect on December 1.

The young ****** survivors have welcomed the law but believe stronger awareness and education is needed.

“What’s the fine, $200? What is really going to stop them having people in the car?,” Mr Jackson said.

“Just thinking to yourself ‘is it worth it?’.”

That is a question they hope will stay with everyone out on the roads.
