ADCA 2024-25: Manypeaks score big win after Pollard takes five, Denmark and Royals with strong run chases

A five-wicket haul from left-arm seamer Brendon Pollard has lifted Manypeaks to a huge win in the Albany and Districts Cricket Association B-grade competition.

Pollard ripped through the Railways batting line-up in round two of the season, claiming 5-10 as Peaks went on to win by seven wickets at Proctor Oval.

Peaks had the bye in the opening round and were sent into the field after the Tigers won the toss but it mattered little as Pollard claimed five of the first six wickets to fall.

Only Marshall O’Meara (17), Ben Scott (12) and Lawrence T’Hart (11) reached double figures as the Tigers were knocked over for just 59.

The home side made light work of the run chase despite three wickets from Tigers veteran Kevin Snape, Paul McSweeney belting 24 and Gary McGlade adding an unbeaten 18 as they needed just 12.4 overs to collect a double bonus point win.

Denmark made it two wins to start the new season as they chased down 161 to defeat Mt Barker at Turf East.

A half century from Troy Simmons guided the Bulls to 160 batting first as Magpie Jackson Ross finished with 5-39.

Lochlan Otway replaced regular opener Matt Burton at the top of the order, Otway scoring 56 from 102 ****** to anchor the successful run chase.

Burton made 35 at No.3 to go with contributions form Peter Ross (25) and Ryan Hick (22no) as the Magpies cruised to a seven-wicket win, passing the total in the 34th over.

In the final B-grade fixture Royals chased down 172 to record their second win of the season, highlighted by an unbeaten 70 from Shane Manser.

Manser batted through the innings as the Lions emerged five-wicket winners in the end.

Jarrad Dawson fell one run shy of a half century but Manser hit seven boundaries in his match-defining knock as the Lions got over the line with 15 ****** to spare.

Jeremy Watson, filling in from Narrikup who had the bye, top scored with 65 for Park but wily Lions spinner Dame Leo snared four vital wickets.

In the C-grade competition Albany Sharks won their first game since joining the competition, beating Narrikup by two runs.

Narrikup set the Sharks 137 to win and the chase came down to the wire, Rohan Tabell hitting the winning runs before his side was bowled out in the same over.

Shaun Roddy led the way with 55 for the Sharks.

Collingwood Park had a huge win over Royals, bowling the latter out for just 18 as Ian Waugh snared 5-5.

Sam Osborne (86) and Andrew Hagnhofer (74) helped Park reach 6-212 in reply.

Denmark were dominant winners over Railways in the other game, as Ben Atwell top scored with 52 for the Magpies who made 212 in reply after bowling the Tigers out for 62.
