Perth weather: Perth set to swelter in warmer-than-average spring temperatures as summer comes early

Perth is set to be hit with sweltering temperatures this week as warmer-than-average spring weather arrives in WA.

Temperatures are predicted to reach a warm 32 degrees on Monday before the mercury hits its highest on Tuesday at 33 degrees, and continuing in the low 30s until Thursday.

The Bureau of Meteorology is expecting that temperatures in some parts of WA may be eight to 12 degrees above average for October, with a chance of approaching weather records for this time of year.

Meteorologist Caroline Crow said the warm weather was a sign of things to come in WA, with a hotter-than-average summer predicted.

While the warmer weather may have some people celebrating, the Department of ***** and Emergency Services has warned that the high temperatures could spark an early start to the bushfire season.

***** and Emergency Services Commissioner Darren Klemm said with hot temperatures forecast for much of Western Australia this week, there would be elevated ***** danger ratings in many areas across the State.

He said people should be on high alert and review their bushfire plan.

“DFES is monitoring and reviewing the risk and has resources on standby to ensure we have the capacity to manage large-scale incidents if needed,” Commissioner Klemm said.

“Two Helitaks and a supervision aircraft were due to start operations on November 1 but were brought online at Jandakot Airport on Sunday because of the forecast hot weather. They will be ready to respond to fires in Perth and regional WA.

“DFES has also started its rollout of the State Operational Support Fleet, distributing additional firefighting appliances to areas deemed most at risk during the high-threat *******.”

A cool change will bring relief on Friday as a weak cold front moves across WA, bringing temperatures in the mid 20s on Friday and possible showers on Saturday.

Perth forecast:

Monday: Sunny, 16 -32

Tuesday: Sunny, 16 -33

Wednesday: Sunny, 16 -31

Thursday: Sunny, 15-32

Friday: Partly cloudy, 15 -26
