Kansas City man allegedly fired at least 10 shots from 19th floor balcony: Court documents

A Kansas City man has been arrested after allegedly ******* several guns multiple times at random targets from a balcony on the 19th floor of a downtown building.

Brent Bischof, 48, was charged Friday in Jackson County court with armed ********* action and unlawful use of a *******.

Bischof allegedly fired several rounds with a long **** from a balcony at The View Condominiums, at 600 Admiral Rd., around 2:15 p.m. Thursday. After seeing and hearing one of the shots from the ground, a Kansas City police officer contacted the apartment manager at The View, according to court documents.

The ********* was also witnessed by several pedestrians, according to court documents. Kansas City police officers confronted Bischof at a nearby intersection shortly after the *********, court documents read, and took him into police custody.

The apartment manager directed the officer to apartment 1906, where the shots had allegedly originated, court documents read. Bischof had fired at least 10 bullets from at least two guns, according to court documents; shell casings were found in the courtyard and loading dock of The View, as well as on a nearby roof at 615 E. 6th St.

At least one shot hit a white 2009 Ford Fusion parked nearby on 6th Street, according to court documents. No one was in the car at the time of the *********. The owner of the Fusion plans to press additional charges against Bischof, according to court records.

Officers recovered at least 12 guns from Bischof’s apartment, along with hundreds of rounds of live ammunition, court documents read.

Police and prosecutors indicated no one was known to have been injured in the *********.

Officer Alayna Gonzalez, a spokesperson with Kansas City police, told The Star that police had intercepted an unknown man who had fired shots near 600 Admiral Rd., and that police did not consider the incident to be an “active shooter situation,” but said that the investigation was ongoing.

Bischof is not currently eligible for bond. His next court date has not yet been set.

The Star’s Kendrick Calfee and Glenn E. Rice contributed reporting.
