We know there’s going to be great horror set pieces. But I fell in love with both of them, and I want to see what their story is.” Alien: Romulus grossed over $350.8 million worldwide on a budget of only $80 million, proving that the franchise still has as serious earning power, and that audiences still long to see Ridley Scott’s acid-blooded monstrosity stalking its way across the silver screen. (Apparently they also want to see it creeping through their VCR, as the film is getting a VHS release in addition to releasing on Blu-ray.) But a Romulus sequel isn’t the only creature flick audiences have to look forward to–Asbell says 20th Century Studios currently has not one but two Predator movies in the pipeline, both of which are scheduled to release in 2025. “Two [Predator films] are coming out next year,” Asbell said. “One I can’t talk about yet, but the other one is the live-action Predator film with Elle Fanning that just wrapped [filming] in New Zealand. That’ll be out theatrically sometime next year.” When asked if a new Alien vs. Predator film could be on the horizon, Asbell simply replied, “Probably.” 2024 has been a particularly good year for Alien fans, as shortly after Alien: Romulus released, it was announced that iconic survival horror game Alien: Isolation is finally getting a sequel. Based on Asbell’s recent comments, it seems that trend will continue as we head into 2025, and Predator fans will have plenty to look forward to as well.
