How To Unlock The Superblack Shader In Destiny 2 (Again)

Destiny 2’s annual Festival of the Lost event returns for 2024 soon, and while overall it sounds a lot like what we’ve seen in the past, there are several noticeable wrinkles and new rewards. Arguably the most notable of these is a new opportunity to earn the Superblack shader, a beloved option from the first game that was briefly available earlier this year as part of the Into the Light update. Starting on October 29, you’ll be able to get it again–here’s how.

Bungie has revealed that Superblack will be available by completing the Ghost Writer event challenge during Festival of the Lost 2024. This challenge includes completing 15 event challenges–basically, you’ll need to grind your way through the entire event, which is something you may have done anyway. We don’t yet know what those challenges are, but we’ll report back once Festival of the Lost launches on October 29 with what you need to do and any tips on how to expedite the process.

A look at Superblack

By all indications, Superblack will be locked away again, so if you have any interest in the all-****** look it provides, you’ll likely want to invest the time to get it while you can. There’s no telling when it will return.
