Lance Morris to return for Western Australia in star-studded pace ******* to face Tasmania at the WACA Ground

Injury-plagued tearaway Lance Morris will return from a quad injury in Western Australia’s one-day cup clash with Tasmania on Friday as part of a stacked pace *******.

Morris missed a 50-over victory over Queensland last Sunday with the injury, which he suffered at training during WA’s four-day match days before.

He then sat out the Sheffield Shield win over Tasmania, which ended on Wednesday, as part of a strict management plan from Cricket Australia.

Red-ball captain Sam Whiteman will miss the match at the WACA Ground with a quad injury, but is expected to be fit for their next shield game from next Friday.

Friday’s match will be just the second time Morris has played this season, after making an appearance in last month’s defeat to South Australia in Sydney.

Jhye Richardson has been picked after also bowling 10 overs for Fremantle in a Premier Cricket clash with Scarborough last week.

Joel Paris will play his first match this season after battling a calf injury he picked up late last month at training. His most recent match was last year’s shield final and his only one-day match last summer was the final against New South Wales.

Andrew Tye, the State’s most prolific wicket-taker in the format, and Mahli Beardman have been dropped to make way for the pair.

Mitch Marsh will not play, meaning he is highly unlikely to bowl in a match before Australia’s Test series against Pakistan. Marsh didn’t bowl at all against Tasmania, despite flagging pre-match that he would, and will miss next month’s ODI series as he awaits the birth of his first child.

Aaron Hardie has also returned to the side and confirmed on Thursday he would bowl more overs after returning to the crease in this week’s red-ball match.

“Absolutely I’ll be playing tomorrow, I’ll be bowling tomorrow — everything is tracking well,” he said.

“I’ll definitely be building up the bowling in the next couple of months.”

That’s ahead of a one-day international series with Pakistan next month and Perth Scorchers’ Big Bash League season.

It comes as New South Wales unveiled a star-studded one-day side for their clash with Victoria at the Junction Oval.

As he confirmed to The West *********** this month, *********** Test captain Pat Cummins — also in the squad to play Pakistan — will line up for the Blues alongside Josh Hazlewood.

Steve Smith will also play, but bowlers Mitchell Starc and Sean Abbott have been rested after playing the four-day game this week.
