After Interplay and ****** Isle, Bethesda took over the franchise and gave fans some exceptional Fallout video games. Fans have been waiting for nearly a decade now for the next Fallout game, but Bethesda gave fans the same Fallout experience, just in the form of a TV series.

With the help of Todd Howard, the mastermind behind the Fallout and The Elder Scrolls series, a series that was canonical to the Fallout games was released in April 2024. The show was a massive success and it’s safe to say that Howard’s approach was what made it special. On several occasions, he has explained that he treated the series like another entry in the video game series. The fact that the series was a standalone entry seemingly confirms that it could generate spinoffs in the future as the Fallout universe is quite big.

I wanted to approach it as an entry in the franchise as opposed to you know a direct translation of an existing story.

Howard’s idea of treating the show as a video game installment will certainly benefit the studio in the future. The film could branch out spinoffs in the future as they never directly translated the events of the video games, leaving out the possibility of covering the rest of the Fallout universe in the future.

Elder Scrolls 6 is in pre-production and, you know, we’re going to be doing Fallout 5 after that, so our slate’s pretty full going forward for a while. We have some other projects that we look at from time to time as well.
