Diamond Member Pelican Press 0 Posted April 12 Diamond Member Share Posted April 12 Destiny 3 Possibly In Development According to Reputable Leaker This has been an exciting week for Destiny 2 fans as Bungie launched the long-awaited Into The Light update which provided players with a new activity, a returning arsenal of weapons, and several sandbox updates. Bungie also finally gave fans an in-depth look at The Final Shape, the highly anticipated expansion that launches on June 4. But there’s one thing that happened that added fuel to the ***** – the possibility of Destiny 3 being in development. via Bungie This is the question that all Destiny players want the answer to. Well, fans might be in luck because Luke Smith, Executive Creative Director at Bungie, assured fans that The Final Shape would not be the end of the Destiny saga. In the first few minutes of The Final Shape livestream, Luke stated that fans need not worry, when he said, “facing The Witness is not the end of Destiny 2, and it’s definitely not the end of Destiny”. This simple statement set the Destiny community ablaze as many speculated what exactly he meant. However, this isn’t the only development that has taken place in recent days. Many players noticed that a notable leaker within the Destiny community successfully predicted the upcoming subclass in The Final Shape, Prismatic. This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up about the new subclass subsequently gave more validity to an even more interesting revelation, the prospect of Destiny 3 currently being in development. Several players initially dismissed these leaks when they were first revealed. But now, taking into consideration what Luke Smith stated about the future of Destiny, these leaks suddenly hold a lot more weight. The leaker claimed that Destiny 3 has been in development since 2022 and is currently under the codename “Payback”. The introduction of the Prismatic subclass seems to also have a big part to play in Destiny 3, as he suggests that Bungie will be doing away with subclasses as a whole. This isn’t too far-fetched, considering that the basis of Prismatic already lends to that belief. Considering just how much Prismatic will change the current way players engage with Destiny 2, there is a point to be made about this new subclass setting up Destiny for whatever is to come in the future. However, some factors may still hinder the rumored development of Destiny 3. As we’re aware, Bungie has faced recent challenges with its parent company, Sony. Recent revelations indicate that Destiny 2 hasn’t met Sony’s financial expectations, potentially hindering any progress on a sequel. There are also some technical challenges that Bungie may have to sort out before releasing a sequel. Several players in the community have already made note that a new Destiny game could potentially mean that players would not be able to transfer over their in-game weapons and gear. While Bungie might have a solution in place, navigating the technical complexities of launching a new Destiny game would pose significant challenges. One thing is for sure though – the development of Destiny 3 is probably heavily dependent on the success of The Final Shape. Whether or not Bungie will satisfy players is yet to be seen.
