trooper was responding to a ****** near the 1.5 mile marker on I-465 East on the south side of the city. That segment of the highway is under construction, and concrete barriers block both shoulders.

The trooper parked in the left lane to direct traffic away from the ****** site, where multiple disabled vehicles awaited towing. His police vehicle’s lights were flashing, an ISP spokesperson said.

A blue 2002 Honda Civic struck the trooper’s vehicle from behind and pushed it into the officer, who was taken to an area hospital before being released home. The Honda’s driver ******** hospitalized in stable condition.

Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the ******, an ISP spokesperson told IndyStar.
