But It Manifests A Nightmare Every PlayStation Fanatic Is Afraid Of

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, one of the PlayStation 5’s biggest exclusive titles, is making its way to PC on January 30, 2025. With the announcement made at New York Comic ****, fans are happy to know we can soon play the highly acclaimed game on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

But beneath the excitement, there is a growing concern among PlayStation loyalists. Should fans worry about the shrinking list of genuine PS5 exclusives? Is Sony undermining its own console by releasing these iconic titles elsewhere? PC gamers probably don’t care, we just want January to come faster.

PlayStation Fans Are Left To Worry About True Exclusivity With The Platform

Sony’s decision to port Spider-Man 2 to PC continues a trend that has seen other flagship PlayStation games like **** of War and Ghost of Tsushima cross over to the platform.

But this strategy has been called out by some. PlayStation fans argue that the appeal of owning a Sony console is diminishing as more exclusives become accessible on other platforms. Some even ask why it got ported before getting a DLC.

Developed by Nixxes Software in collaboration with Insomniac Games and Marvel Games, the port will most likely follow up on the success of the first game’s port.

That one was also done by Nixxes Software and found massive success. Players will get both the Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions with exclusive suits, gadgets, and additional content.

Spider-Man 2 continues the storyline of Peter Parker and Miles Morales with iconic villains like Venom and Kraven the Hunter. Despite no additional story content planned, the game will launch on PC with all the post-release PS5 updates. These include New Game+, new suits, and Photo Mode features.

While the PlayStation 5 continues to sell well, the last few years have not seen a lot of exclusive games. Titles like Spider-Man 2 have kept the platform relevant, but moving them to PC feels like Sony is undermining its own long-term strategy.

Is It Really Worse if the Game Comes Out to a ******* Audience

Historically, one of Sony’s main selling points has been its rich library of exclusive games, which often justifies the purchase of a PlayStation console. The PS4 era saw incredible exclusives that gave Sony a clear advantage over its competitors.

Games like Uncharted 4, The Last of Us Part II, and Spider-Man made owning a PlayStation a big deal if you were interested in them. This selling point becomes less attractive as more of these titles make their way to PC, or don’t (sorry Bloodborne).

Previously, console exclusivity was seen as a reward for loyal fans who invested in the hardware. But when these titles are ported to PC soon after their initial release, that exclusivity becomes less of a privilege and more of a temporary delay.

For Spider-Man 2, the port is coming out in just over a year since its release on console, the fastest for a major PS5 game so far. This quick turnaround may leave console owners questioning the value of staying within the ecosystem.

Will you be picking up Spider-Man 2 on PC when it comes out next year? Let us know in the comments!
