PUBG Battlegrounds 2024 roadmap includes destructible environments

The 2024 update roadmap for PUBG: Battlegrounds has been revealed.

In a 24-minute video, the game’s developers shared a number of new features set to be added to the free-to-play battle royale game over the course of the year.

One of the main announcements was the addition of destructible map environments, which will “add a dynamic new layer of strategy and tactics to the game”.

“By providing players the ability to strategically ******** sections of buildings, we unlock the possibility for them to carve out new ******* routes or construct defensive barriers,” a statement on the official PUBG site reads. “This feature hopes to go beyond mere environmental destruction, infusing the game with an enriched layer of strategy and tactics.

“Such ‘destruction’ elements are expected to add dynamism to the game and create unpredictable situations, necessitating players to change their strategies flexibly according to circumstances.”

The environmental destruction feature is set to initially launch in the game’s upcoming April update, with more improvements and expansions to follow.

Other announcements made during the roadmap video include gunplay updates every two months, new content and collaborations, matchmaking improvements and overhauls to Rankng mode.

Future plans are also being put in place for a transition to Unreal Engine 5 and the addition of user generated content.
