Dough! Suspect fails in bid to rob Erie pizzeria when employee not fooled by drill

A man ******* in his bid to rob an Erie Domino’s Pizza location late Thursday afternoon when his ******* of choice thwarted his effort to obtain a little dough, according to city police.

The attempted robbery was reported on Thursday at about 4:45 p.m. at the Domino’s at 51 W. 14th St. According to police, a man walked into the pizzeria and placed an order before going behind the counter, brandishing a ******* and demanding money.

A store employee noticed the *******’s ******* was a drill wrapped in a plastic bag and pushed the man away, and the suspect fled the pizzeria without any money, Deputy Chief Rick Lorah said Friday.

Police are hunting for a suspect who was described as a slim male who was 25 to 35 years old, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, and wearing dark clothing. Major ******* detectives are following up on the incident, Lorah said.

Erie police have seen such an unusual ******* before.

On the evening of Sept. 5, police were called to the Kwik Fill at 1101 East Lake Road on a report of a robbery and learned that a man armed with what was believed to be a handgun grabbed a cash register cash drawer from the store and fled.

Officers who searched areas around the Kwik Fill after the robbery said they found a backpack similar to the one the ******* was wearing, a cash register drawer and a cordless drill investigators suspect was the ******* used in the robbery.

That robbery ******** under investigation. Lorah said Friday that police are looking into whether the two incidents are possibly connected.
