Except on Wednesday (Oct. 9) at Margaritaville Resort on Fort Myers Beach where the “Five O’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grille” is located. At about 5 p.m. yesterday is when the storm surge from Hurricane Milton started to spill onto Estero Island, providing an eerily similar experience as there was almost two years ago (Sept. 28, 2022) when Hurricane Ian caused catastrophic damage on Fort Myers Beach. The Margaritaville Resort was under construction when Ian slammed the coastline. Hurricane Milton wasn’t Hurricane Ian, but Milton still packed a powerful punch. And with it, surge. A web cam located at Margaritaville captured video of the surge and you can check it out in the time lapse video at the top of the page. Less than two weeks ago, Hurricane Helene skirted past Fort Myers Beach and the surge caused flooding that impacted Margaritaville.
