on Adlai Stevenson Drive next to Starbucks and Jaalsa has temporarily closed its doors to the public.

Before fans of Chalupa Supremes and value boxes with chips, cheese and guac mourn the loss of the store – the closing won’t forever, according to Tri-Jen of Springfield LLC, owner of the location.

Tri-Jen employee Heather Burch confirmed the building closed early October for interior renovations, such as upgrading the seats in the establishment.

Two building permits were issued by the City of Springfield Building and Zoning Department to Tri-Jen on October 1st and 3rd, reiterating the restaurant would only be temporarily closed for renovations.

The permits are for a new sign installation in front of the location and a restaurant interior remodel. The contractor is WM Aupperle 4 Sons Inc., working with electrical contractor Shwartz Electric.

With the temporary closure of this location, only three Taco Bell locations are still serving the city. The locations remaining open are on Toronto Road, West White Oaks Drive and North Dirkson Parkway.
