How To Get the ******-Repellent Torch

If you’re tired of getting ambushed by wolves, rats, or even the annoying giant dogs that gang up on you to infinitely stun-lock you, you’ll want to know how to get the ******-Repellent Torch.

It’s one of the best Elden Ring weapons, but not for its damage. It does exactly what the name suggests it does, not only lighting your path through the darkest of areas but keeping the creatures that lurk within these corners far away from you (so long as they’re beastly in nature).

We’ll walk you through everything you need to know about getting this useful item and how it can make exploring ******-infested areas much easier.

What is the ******-Repellent Torch

The ******-Repellent torch is especially helpful when navigating the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds.

Classified as a *******, this torch can scare away different categories of creatures while approaching them, so long as you’re holding it in one of your hands. This includes Bears, Rats, Giant Rats, Dogs, Giant Dogs, Wolves, Boars, Sheep, Bears (not the Runebear kind), Basilisks, and Crystal Snails.

They won’t ******* you, but they’ll still have their eyes locked on you. If you ******* them, they’ll certainly hit back, but you can just requip it to get them to back off again. It even works when you’re on Torrent, making zooming through areas a lot less dangerous.

It also doubles as a ******* if you’re trying to do a torch-only run for whatever reason, or for enemies weak to ***** (such as the Miranda Sprouts). Although, for obvious reasons, we don’t recommend you use it as a primary *******.

If you’d like to avoid the pain of getting ganked by a ton of rats in tight spaces, you’ll definitely want to take this with you.

The best part is that the ******-Repellent Torch location is somewhere you can get to fairly quickly, and there are multiple ways to do it. We’ll go over exactly how to get to the right location and what you need to do to acquire it.

How to Get the ******-Repellent Torch

Getting to this merchant is no walk in the park, but it’s worth it.

The ******-Repellent Torch location is Dragonbarrow, near Caelid. You need to buy it from the Isolated Merchant here for just 1200 Runes, and it’s yours to keep forever.

So, acquiring it is easy, but getting there can be quite difficult early, especially as Caelid is filled with horrors lurking around the open world.

Enemies like the Monstrous Crows and the Monstrous Dogs will chase you down for quite a distance and can reach you even if you’re on horseback, and once you reach Dragonbarrow, there are Dragons everywhere.

The merchant is located deep into the northwestern part of the region, near the Isolated Merchant’s Shack Site of Grace. Planning your route there is super important to ensure you get to the merchant relatively stress-free—although, are you really in Caelid if you’re not sweating even a little?

There are multiple ways to get to Dragonbarrow. The straightforward way is to just go to Caelid and naturally progress to the northern part of the red region (through the town of Sellia), and then make your way to the merchant’s shack as seen in the picture.

You can also use the lift at the end of the Siofra River area. It needs to be activated with a Stonesword Key, one of the best items to start with for a new character in Elden Ring.

The lift will place you in a lower region of Dragonbarrow. Near the ******* of Plague, you’ll find a Spiritspring Jump that’ll take you to the area you need to be in to find the shack.

Tip

You can also reach the PvP Colosseum from where you get off the lift in Dragonbarrow.

The final way, which requires a bit of setup, is to do NPC D’s quest to a certain point and let him teleport you to the ******** Sanctum in Caelid. You can find him near the Tibia Mariner in Summonwater Village.

Whatever path you choose, you just need to make it to the merchant and buy the ******-Repellent Torch from him. While you’re there, he also sells the Elden Ring armor set that hails from the Land of Reeds, so you might want to check that out too.
