New Deck Builder As We Descend Announced With Demo Available

Coffee Stain and developer Box Dragon have unveiled a new roguelike deck builder called As We Descend. The reveal took place during Coffee Stain’s “The Spill” showcase event on Tuesday.

“As We Descend takes a strategic twist to the beloved deckbuilding roguelike genre,” the studio said. “Recruit units for your expeditions, navigate political treachery, enlist allies across the city, and take on incomprehensible foes.”

The first game from Box Dragon, As We Descend features turn-based combat as well as card crafting. There is also relationship building for players which will impact the characters met in a “desperate city which evolves and crumbles in unique ways based on the player’s decisions”.

The game’s director, Kevin Chang, said during The Spill described it as a strategy sandbox based on the decisions players are allowed to make while they play. He also hinted the game has a Dark Souls-like difficulty where it will provide a fair challenge for players.

The game doesn’t have a release date just yet. However, there is a demo
