One of the Best Ever Games Xbox Couldn’t Get its Paws on Has Sold More Than 10 Million Copies as of 2024

Xbox ******* to get its hands on one of the best ever games that has now sold more than 10 million copies after 6 years of its release. The game is still as relevant and fresh as it was years ago upon release.

The game was developed by the French studio Quantic Dream, which is known for making narrative-driven games like Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. Xbox ******* to strike a deal with the studio, which ultimately resulted in it losing the game to other platforms.

Xbox Got Unlucky With The Game Due To One Simple Reason

Quantic Dream has had a long-lasting relationship with Sony, which is why the earlier games from the studio were released as PlayStation exclusives only. Even Detroit: Become Human was a PlayStation exclusive upon launch in 2018. Quantic Dream had signed an exclusive deal with Sony that ensured the game would be released as an exclusive.

Sony’s relationship with the studio might have acted as the key reason why Xbox, even after the game came to PC, ******* to get its hand on it. The studio was bound by the promises made in the past, which ultimately left out Xbox.

These exclusive deals are not a new phenomenon; many companies use high-profile games to attract more players to their platforms. Sony is notorious when it comes to releasing exclusives. It has done it plenty of time, which has even caused a lot of irritation among fans of the game waiting years before they can play it.

Detroit: Become Human was eventually released on PC a year after the game’s initial launch, and Xbox still did not receive the game. The game has currently sold over 10 million copies as of 2024, and the number only seems to be rising. There is a very slim chance that we will see the game come to Xbox Game Pass anytime soon.

The Train Has Left The Station For Xbox

It is too late for Xbox to catch up to the game since it has become a huge success now and it will be even more difficult now to strike a deal with the studio.

However, nothing is set in stone, and as the world keeps revolving, so do times. Maybe years from now, we might see Detroit: Become Human made available on Xbox, but it is highly unlikely that it is going to happen anytime soon.

The reason behind it has largely to do with the deal Quantic Dream has signed with Sony, which restricts them from making another deal with Sony’s direct competitor. The ongoing contractual agreements or business strategies restrict the studio from expanding further to Xbox. What do you think about it? Let us know in the comments below.
