Star Wars Outlaws needs online connection to install

Despite a physical copy available to pre-order ahead of its August 30 launch, Ubisoft still requires an internet connection to install. It’s small enough some may miss it.

. Naturally this caused a little stir, but should be expected from Ubisoft. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was a carbon copy of this, where the game required an internet connection to start things before an offline mode became available after its day-one patch.

This seems to be a thing many developers are starting to do, Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, for example, also required an internet connection for its day-one patch. Digital adopters had nothing to worry about, but physical gamers faced a completely different story, with a sizable chunk of the game being a digital download. While not confirmed, we assume this to be the case for Outlaws, as well.
