Following countless years of playing the Call of Duty franchise, since the days of Call of Duty 2 and Big Red One on PlayStation 2, I feel I’m capable of providing a few tips and tricks to new players diving into Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 multiplayer on day one. Maybe I’m wrong (probably!), but I like to think I’m okay at the game and can hold my own in Team Deathmatch or Domination.

  1. Don’t be afraid to jump into a low-stakes Team Deathmatch round to practice Omnimovement. It’s a brand-new mechanic that will take some time to grasp fully, and you’ll find that sweat-lords have you beat on day one. Alternatively, for even lower stakes, load into the Training Course to practice diving, flipping 180 degrees, sprinting backward, and keeping up the momentum to take down foes. Personally, I found I need to work on sliding.
  2. If you want to take full advantage of the Omnimovement system, invest in a few worthwhile perks such as Double Time, which increases Tac Sprint duration; Dexterity, which reduces ******* motion while jumping, sliding, or diving; and Gung-***, which allows you to reload while Tac Sprinting.
  3. Most first-person shooters teach you to aim for center mass, but they provide a satisfying critical hit when you strike the head. As such, most players tend to aim high, but in ****** Ops 6, damage multipliers mean hitting the limbs and torso repeatedly deal more damage faster than if you land a lucky headshot.
  4. I’m not generally one to follow the meta in any game, especially in Call of Duty. I’m here to have fun. As such, I recommend you ignore what everyone else is playing with and test out weapons and builds of your own. There’s nothing wrong with experimenting with a new ******* type, like a marksman rifle, instead of opting for the fast-******* SMG the entire lobby uses repeatedly!

Here is a sizable number of useful ****** Ops 6 tips straight from our community on the official Insider Gaming forums. As we receive additional tips from players, we’ll update this piece!

@Jackb27:

It’s important to always be ready to look/aim anywhere at anytime reaction time is important within any FPS game especially for COD, not to mention being able to accurately predict players movements which comes with practice and advanced map knowledge.

@Rogerinholmpera:

Try to pay attention to the minimap as much as possible, which makes it easier to find out where the enemies are.

@Hythlodaeus:

Audio matters, arguably more than sight. Being able to pre-aim at a door or around a corner can make a huge difference when you know to listen for ******* shots or footsteps. It’s also good for avoiding an ambush from behind.

@IAMSAMMICH:

Get to know your keybinds! Especially with this new movement!

@Captain_Fuzz:

Centering! Make sure your crosshairs are always “centred” on where you expect enemies to come from, this way you will have to aim less drastically before you can start *********. There’s no need to run towards a door aiming 5 feet above it, an ****** isn’t going to appear from there.
