Did 343 Industries Make a Mistake Creating Slipspace Engine For Halo Infinite?

The Halo franchise is going through a massive change at the moment following Halo Infinite’s ********. The recent game by 343 Industries did not satisfy the Halo fans, which led to the ultimate ******** of the game. Recently, progress has been made towards making amends within the studio.

During Sunday’s Halo World Championships, 343 Industries announced that it would officially be changing its name to Halo Studios. The rebranded studio has announced that it would be leaving Slipspace Engine behind to pave the way for the future of Halo games being made using Unreal Engine 5.

Halo Finally Lets Go of The Broken Slipspace Engine

In a 7-minute video showcased during Sunday’s Halo World Championship. The entire team at Halo Studios came forward to address the world regarding the internal changes that the team is currently going through. They talk about why the studio decided to shift its focus from Slipspace Engine to Unreal Engine 5.

The team showcased their recent creation, Project Foundry, which is a technical experiment to show the world the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5 for Halo games in the future.

The team at Halo Studios realizes the mistakes they made by using the Slipspace Engine for Halo Infinite, which used tools from the early 2000s. The engine made use of a technology that was 25 years old, and that is one of the biggest reasons why Halo Infinity ******* to perform well in the market.

Halo games were known for their graphical supremacy during the olden times. However, in the recent past, the tide has shifted in an unfavorable direction for the franchise as it goes down a path of losing relevance day by day, with Halo Infinite being the last nail in the coffin. The recent game’s ******** acted as a wake-up call for the studio to pull up its socks and do something about it.

The Slipspace Engine set Halo Infinite up to fail by using obsolete tech in making the game. Halo Infinite was not at all well received, and it marked a new chapter for the once widely celebrated franchise.

Respectfully, some components of Slipspace are almost 25 years old, Although 343 were developing it continuously, there are aspects of Unreal that Epic has been developing for some time, which are unavailable to us in Slipspace – and would have taken huge amounts of time and resources to try and replicate

The 343 Industries also went through an internal shakeup after the ******** of its recent game. However, this rebranding and the use of Unreal Engine 5 for its upcoming games mark a new chapter for Halo Studios.
