Emily Davies, 28, pleads not guilty to ******** outside a City of Albany special electors meeting

A Great Southern woman has denied assaulting someone outside the City of Albany council chambers on the night of a special electors meeting.

Emily Louise Davies pleaded not guilty to common ******** in Albany Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The 28-year-old is accused of assaulting a woman outside the chambers on August 26, the evening of a special electors meeting attended by more than 400 residents.

Ms Davies is out on bail and not subject to any protective conditions.

She will next appear in court on November 28 to be allocated a trial date.

Electors voted at the August meeting on motions to restrict children’s access to two ******* education books in the library, investigate comic e-book series **** **********, and inquire into the funding and working with children checks for an Albany Pride Twerkshop event.

Keeping Children Safe Albany’s Michelle Kinsella spearheaded the campaign to remove the books from the library and investigate the event, claiming they “encouraged the sexualisation of children”.

City of Albany councillors voted not to adopt the motions at their September 24 meeting.
