Bill Reed: pearling pioneer and community icon passes away

Tributes have poured in for William (Bill) Reed a pioneer of Australia’s pearling industry, who passed away on September 17 in Margaret River.

Mr Reed indelibly transformed Australia’s pearling industry in the late 1970s, when he established the Broome based jewellery industry which focused on the “*********** South Sea Pearl” as he named it.
