On Peters’ X account, a post following the sentencing read, “Today, Tina was strong for you, just like for the past (four years), demonstrating strength and perseverance for your freedom.”

In the same post, Peters maintained that she “faithfully performed her duties” and discovered evidence of election manipulation.

A jury of her peers did not agree.

Peters was found guilty of ******** to comply with the Colorado Secretary of State’s office, first-degree official misconduct, violation of duty, three counts of attempting to influence a public ******** and one of two counts of *********** to commit ********* impersonation. She was acquitted on three counts: ********* impersonation, *********** to commit ********* impersonation and identity theft.

In addition to her incarceration, Peters will serve three years of parole and pay up to $2,000 in fines for counts one, two and four, the max fine for count eight and $1,000 for counts nine and 10.

Following the former Mesa County clerk’s sentencing, Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold said in a statement she was “proud” that Peters was incarcerated “for her dangerous attempts” to cast doubt on the election. Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser said in a statement Peters “seriously compromised trust with her fellow Coloradans.”

Peters’ defense has 21 days after the sentence to appeal.
