Fortnite Needs To Stop Playing And Finally Introduce The One Mechanic They Have Been Teasing For Over 4 Years

Fortnite has consistently evolved over the years, and Epic Games has consistently kept players engaged. Whether it’s through the game’s updates, collaborations, or skins, the game has become one of the biggest in the world. But the game has still left one fan-requested feature on the table, first-person mode.

Epic has already teased this feature multiple times before but never released it. The game is at risk of falling behind competitors that already offer first-person gameplay. Now it’s time for Epic to stop teasing and deliver what players have been waiting for.

You Can Play Fortnite In First-Person Now, With a Twist

The first real glimpse of a potential first-person mode happened by accident. In 2020, Fortnite’s Doomsday event caused a glitch that let some players view the game in first-person. This unintentional feature was a hit, with custom animations hinting that Epic might have had plans for it all along.

However, the mode was quickly reverted, leaving fans wondering when it would officially make its way into the game. For over four years, players have been asking, when will Epic truly embrace the first-person perspective?

Fast forward to 2024, and while some progress has been made, Fortnite’s first-person mode still feels unfinished. Epic Games has just added an experimental first-person camera mode in the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), giving creators a chance to test it in custom maps.

It comes with many limitations though. Players are only able to use certain weapons, and actions like swimming or gliding automatically revert to third-person view. Despite being in this limited capacity, Epic has confirmed that the mode will enter beta later this year, but only for custom modes.

Despite being a third-person shooter, the game has consistently evolved over time with many updates. Epic has confirmed that the first-person mode won’t be available in the main Battle Royale mode for now, which is a disappointing reality for many.

In recent updates, Epic has continued to tease the possibility of a first-person mode. During the State of Unreal event, the developers showcased snippets of gameplay demonstrating how the first-person perspective works. It would be nice to see a confirmed release date for the release of the feature in full.

The game’s strength ***** in its adaptability and willingness to innovate, which is why the game has even come this far. With such a vibrant community of players and creators, why not leverage their enthusiasm to roll out features that have been in the works for years?

With competitors like Call of Duty and PUBG successfully implementing first-person modes, the question arises, why has Fortnite lagged behind? The popularity of the first-person mechanic in other battle royale titles shows that players enjoy this perspective.

Epic has an opportunity to redefine Fortnite’s identity, aligning it more closely with the preferences of its player base while staying ahead of its competitors. Players are tired of waiting for features that have been teased for years. It’s time.
