It’s the most popular and longest-running series, right alongside Elder Scrolls. With the emergence of the TV adaptation, many fans, old and new, are dipping their toes into the backlog of post-apocalyptic games while waiting for whatever might come next from the franchise. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///ywAAAAAAQABAAACAUwAOw==Bethesda’s boss has opened up about the remakes of the first two Fallout games. (Image via Bethesda) Many consider the first two games of the Fallout franchise to be the peak of gaming. So naturally, gamers had been hoping that these particular games would receive some sort of fresh coat of paint in the near future. Even though there’s a strong demand, Todd Howard has revealed that Bethesda has no plans to touch these classic games anytime soon. Bethesda’s Decision to Ignore Classic Fallout Games is Horrendous Even though they’re still regarded as one of the best RPGs of all time, Fallout 1 and 2 are starting to show their age in the current generation. If you’ve forgotten, both of these games debuted way back in the late 1990s and, a decade before the first fully 3D game in the series, Fallout 3, debuted. So, it’s not shocking that they haven’t held up when it comes to visuals and gameplay mechanics. Gamers have often dreamed of a remake for the first two apocalyptic games that would flesh them out in first-person and make them on par with the successors in the franchise. Unfortunately, Bethesda’s head, Todd Howard, has no plans to give gamers these remakes. While This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up with YouTuber MrMattyPlays, Howard inquired if the company had ever considered revamping the first two post-apocalyptic games. Howard states that currently, there are no plans for a remake or remaster of the games. It’s clear studio isn’t focused on the franchise right now and is diverting its resources toward the development of Starfield and the upcoming Elder Scrolls. It’s no secret that Bethesda has run out of good gaming IPs. Expect Elder Scrolls; what else does the studio have right now? Howard and his team are bent on experimenting with new franchises, such as Starfield, which are proving to be massive flops. Seriously, the Shattered Space DLC, is a new low in the company’s history. If Bethesda truly wants to save itself from facing a similar fate to Ubisoft, it must consider developing the remakes of Fallout 1 and 2. The franchise needs to expand, but not with sequels. Remaking these games, which have already proven themselves in the past, with modern-day technology would help the companies push the boundaries further and help regain all the lost ground in the last couple of years. Let’s hope Howard and his team reconsider their approach. Bethesda’s Plans for the Future of Fallout Series data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///ywAAAAAAQABAAACAUwAOw==The next-post apocalyptic game is years away from a release. (Image via Bethesda) Well, if Howard and his team are not giving us the highly-requested remakes, then what’s the future of Bethesda’s legendary franchise? Well, it’s another sequel, and it’s still years away. Back in 2022, Howard stated that the next title in the post-apocalyptic franchise wouldn’t hit the shelves until Bethesda is done working on Elder Scrolls 6. Current rumors suggest that the This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up won’t drop before 2026, at least. So, Fallout 5 won’t be out for a very long time. We don’t know how this sequel will shape up, but Bethesda wants to deliver another generational hit, so it must take into consideration the recent feedback regarding Shattered Space DLC. There’s clearly a major flaw in the studio’s current approach to developing games and expansions. If this doesn’t get resolved before the release of the next title, the beloved franchise might fall into the abyss. With that said, do you think Bethesda has made a mistake by not revamping the classic Fallout 1 and 2 games? If so, let us know in the comments below.
