Geraldton’s Paige Carslake all set for ********* soccer tour

Geraldton’s Paige Carslake is set to embark on the opportunity of a lifetime, having been selected to participate in an international soccer tour with the *********** Wanderers open women’s soccer team.

The tour will see Carslake travel across Europe throughout October.

“I found a link for the *********** Wanderers open women’s soccer team that had spots left,” she said.

“Wanderers Australia do many tours for all sports to different countries.

“I completed the online form with all of my past soccer experiences, like going to Singapore in 2022 for Singacup, Country Week, and Country Camp, then waited for a response.

“I got the confirmation that I made the team and went from there.”

The tour, which runs from October 2 to 18, will see Carslake play teams from many ********* cities.

“We start in Amsterdam, then go through Holland, Hannover, Berlin, Nuremberg, Zurich, Munich, and finally Vienna,” she said.

“On October 12, we’ll compete in a one-day tournament in Rothenburg, Switzerland. We’ll play three games and then have a friendly barbecue with all the teams.”

For Carslake, the excitement of playing soccer overseas is matched by the cultural experiences the tour will provide.

“We get to do a lot of sightseeing. We’ll learn about World War II memorials like concentration camps, *******’s bunker, and ***** rally grounds. We’ll also see staples like Mount Pilatus, Lake Lucerne, and the Brandenburg Gate.

“I’m over the moon with the opportunity to play the sport I love in a foreign country where the sport is celebrated and loved.

“During the tour, I’ll get to experience what it’s like being a professional footballer. The style will be interesting to play against, and I can’t wait to figure out their dynamics.”
