********* squad detectives are investigating the ****** of a man at a Salmon Gums roadhouse in the early hours of Friday morning.

Police and St John WA were called to the BP Roadhouse on Coolgardie–Esperance Highway in Salmon Gums, about 100km north of Esperance, about 12.30am on Friday after reports of a person with a serious injury.

Emergency services arrived at the scene but a man believed to be in his 50s was unable to be revived and ***** as a result of his injuries.

********* squad detectives have deployed to the small town in the Goldfields-Esperance region and are working with local police and detectives to establish the circumstances of the man’s ******.

A police spokesman said a man in his 20s, who is known to the victim, has been taken into custody and is assisting with the investigations.

Police say investigations are ongoing.
