Space Marine 2 has become one of the most successful games of 2024. The actual profit and sales numbers have been out officially. Focus confirmed that there were 2 million players at launch.

The game had a record-breaking opening and is even currently winning in concurrent numbers from some of the other titles by a huge margin. It is the most played game from the Warhammer 40,000 universe ever, with 225,690 peak concurrent players on Valve’s platform. The success has given Saber Interactive the confidence and support to work on its next big idea.

It has been proven that this time around it will not take another 11 years for the next Space Marine game. Space Marine 2 has just experienced a massive success, and the developer would want to bank on it.

Tim Willits, Chief Creative Officer at Saber Interactive, has confirmed that the success of this game is bound to have positive affects on on its future projects. In fact, one big idea is already in the works that has left people completely confused about whether they should work on a DLC for the current game or turn the idea into a new game altogether.

There is a huge possibility that we will be seeing a lot more content being added to Space Marine 2. Saber will not let the game become obsolete and will try its best to keep the game relevant for years to come. Willits stressed further on the point. He said:

Our game director Dmitry Grigorenko, he has proposed some story ideas that could either be DLC or a sequel. We’re literally just catching our breath. This is two weeks out.

It is confirmed that a lot of exciting content is in the works for Space Marine 2 just a few weeks following the successful release of the game.

This is a new era for the universe of Warhammer 40K; the games from the universe were appreciated and enjoyed before as well but they never got the same response as Space Marine 2. This game has revolutionised the Warhammer universe and it is certain that we will be seeing a lot more from it in the near future.

However, this massive success has also set the bar too high for the team at Saber to reach, which is going to affect the morale of the team a little. But that in no way is going to stop them from taking the leap forward.
