VALORANT is Moving to Unreal Engine 5 With “New Playable Experiences”

Riot Games has announced that VALORANT will move from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5.

The announcement was made by SVP and Head of VALORANT Studios, Anna Donlan, who said “we [Riot Games] have squeezed literally every ounce of everything we could get out of UE 4, so now we make the move to UE5, and that is not an easy feat when your game is a live service game but it is necessary.”

Donlon continued, “This upgrade is not going to significantly change how Valorant looks or performs, at least not right away.”

Donlon went on to tease that developers are “very excited what about UE5 can do for us [Riot Games] in the future” and that “maybe those devs are working on something I can’t talk about and maybe those devs are thinking about ways to expand the Val universe into new playable experiences.”

It ******** to be seen what these “new playable experiences” are, but such comments are sure to get the Valorant community speculating on the possibilities.

For now though, Valorant continues to be a huge success for Riot Games since its release in June 2020. Last year, it was revealed that Valorant has 28 million players, 70% of which are Gen Z.
