Panthers into NRL grand final after beating Sharks

Penrith will meet Melbourne in the 2024 NRL grand final after overcoming a plucky Cronulla for a 26-6 win in the second preliminary final at Accor Stadium.

Halfback Nathan Cleary inspired the triple-reigning premiers to a victory far less comfortable than the scoreline suggested, but appeared to aggravate the shoulder injury that has troubled him on-and-off all year.

The Panthers are the first team since 1971 to reach the grand final in five straight years and have the chance to become the first since 1966 to win four consecutive deciders.
