Is Throne and Liberty Pay to Win? – Answered

Whenever a brand-new MMORPG hits the market, there’s always a handful of questions surrounding its launch. People want to know, first and foremost, whether a game like Throne and Liberty is pay to win. Does it have an in-game store full of power fantasies available for anyone with a credit card? Here’s what you should know about the game’s microtransactions!

Does Throne and Liberty Sell Pay to Win Power?

I completely understand your concerns about pay-to-win elements in a game like Throne and Liberty. After all, despite its early access *******, it’s a free-to-play MMORPG. Whenever an MMO opts for the F2P route, they often overcompensate by releasing abundant in-game microtransactions, including EXP boosters, power-up potions, and cosmetics. I’m okay with cosmetics, as I’m sure you are, as they’re a necessary part of funding ongoing development.

However, you’ll be happy to note that, at this time, there are seemingly few pay-to-win elements in Throne and Liberty. The in-game store is full of cosmetics, including various dyes, morph and Amitoi skins, and armor and ******* skin sets to customize your character to your liking. However, you can purchase tokens that allow you to upgrade your weapons to various rarity levels, though it’s unclear whether these have a significant power boost yet.

All that said, there’s still a chance this takes a turn for the worse. It’s extremely early days for Throne and Liberty. With

as the publisher and NCSOFT behind the wheel, I suspect we’ll see more egregious microtransactions coming to the game as its lifespan pushes forward.

How Much is Premium Currency in Throne and Liberty?

Lucent, Throne and Liberty’s premium currency is available in four packs currently:

  • x500 – $9.99
  • x1,125 – $19.99
  • x2,875 – $49.99
  • x6,000 – $99.99

Of course, as is common with this type of in-game store, most cosmetics are priced so that the smallest bundle isn’t enough to cover a single item, but the second-biggest bundle is only enough for one with some leftovers. You must purchase multiple bundles, which is predatory.
