Perth weather: Downpour soaks WA with Jandakot & Bunbury copping most rainfall before grand final

Widespread rainfall has soaked the state with Bunbury and Jandakot copping the biggest drenching overnight.

Perth enjoyed warm weather and clear skies with temperatures in Perth and Midland soaring to 28C and 31C on Thursday before dark clouds rolled in.

The skies opened with most areas receiving between five and 10mm of rainfall.

Bunbury residents were dealt the heaviest downpour, copping 18.2mm, while in the metropolitan area Jandakot received 12mm.

Friday is forecast to be a much cooler day at 19C with a “very high chance of showers, becoming less likely late this afternoon and evening,” according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

The cloudy conditions are expected to drag on to Saturday, aka AFL grand final day, with the slight chance of a shower in the morning and early afternoon.

But footy fanatics ought not to scrap their outdoor plans entirely, said BOM community information officer Daniel Hayes.

“The main rain should come through on Friday and it probably won’t have too much of an impact on Saturday’s events.”
