As most of us do, I’m sure you have a favorite, but you toy with the idea of playing an entirely new-to-you class this time. Well, you don’t have to fret this time. Throne and Liberty doesn’t use classes like a traditional MMORPG but instead follows the New World school of thinking by prioritizing ******* builds. Here’s how it all works! Throne and Liberty Uses Weapons Not Classes Instead of the traditional class system like most other MMORPGs, such as World of Warcraft or Guild Wars 2, Throne and Liberty follows the same path as the original launch of New World—not the upcoming Aeternum revamp—by allowing you to select a ******* type and then spec into a skill tree associated with each *******. You have seven choices: Sword & Shield Greatsword Daggers Longbow Crossbow Wand Staff I’m not sure if it’s different for the female players (I’ll find out!), but male characters start the game and run through the tutorial prologue section using the Greatsword at first, then have a chance to swap between any of the game’s available weapons at the training ground in the first town. It’s a great way to let you test out viable playstyles and builds without thrusting you into combat. Related: How to Play Throne and Liberty Early Access Best ******* Type for Beginners in Throne and Liberty You can wield two ******* types simultaneously but swap between them and the others anytime you wish. For now, I recommend you pick two, stick with them, and learn how they play. The two I recommend for beginners include: Sword & Shield: The old-school sword and board style provides exceptional defense and survivability, allowing new players to throw themselves wildly into combat without ***** of dying too early. You can use your shield to deal severe damage and raise defense while protecting party members in group-based content. Staff: One would expect the Wand ******* archetype to provide damage-based spells, but it’s the Staff in Throne and Liberty that wields the elements with area-of-effective and explosive magic attacks, including *****, lightning, and frost. Which ******* will you choose first in Throne and Liberty? Let us know in the comments below, or head to the official Insider Gaming forums to start a discussion about the MMORPG!
