Minister Paul Papalia reveals $100 million for new Unit 18 facility next to Banksia Hill Detention Centre

The Cook Government has set aside a whopping $100 million to build a new high-security juvenile detention centre to replace the controversial Unit 18 and promises it will be the “best” of its kind in the world.

Corrective Services Minister Paul Papalia announced on Thursday that $11.5 million was being spent completing detailed planning to finalise design of the facility.
