* The price of an average basket of 14 common household items differed by a few dollars between Coles and Woolworths, but Aldi was the cheapest option by far

* IGA was the most expensive supermarket

* In the June quarter, Woolworths prices increased by $3.44, Coles costs gone down $2.30 and Aldi dropped 72 cents

* There is very little difference between regional and capital city prices for those who shop at Aldi, Coles or Woolworths, but IGA’s customers outside the metropolises paid $2.05 less on average
