While the original Blair Witch Project considered an all-time great horror movie and the bevy of special features included would make this collection worth it, but the inclusion of Book Of Shadows: Blair Witch makes for a far more interesting package. Book of Shadows took a very different direction when compared to the original film and was panned upon release, but it has been reevaluated more kindly in recent years. Instead of being another found-footage follow-up, Book of Shadows is a more traditional movie that exists within the world of The Blair Witch Project, putting a meta commentary spin on the original movie’s cult success. It’s not a perfect movie, but it is a smart one with a thrilling central mystery, clever nods to its source material, and perception-bending themes that make it fun to rewatch.
