Public servants’ poor mental health claims cost double in workers compensation, new report shows

Taxpayers forked out more than $300 million on workers’ compensation for public servants last year, with soaring claims of poor mental health costing double the average payout.

The State Government’s insurer received 715 claims for workers’ compensation over mental health alone last year — the average claim costing $97,279.
