Harry and Sally. Ross and Rachel. Cher and her sort-of-brother Josh — when it comes to rom-com couples, these double-acts take some beating.

But a comedy series set to hit

this week might just be about to add two new names to the list: Noah and Joanne.

This thoroughly delightful series is all about an agnostic podcaster (Joanne, played by Kristen Bell) who falls for an unconventional ****** (Noah, played by Adam Brody).

Their characters are irresistibly made for each other — and I can’t get enough.

Their connection is the last thing either of them are expecting when they meet at a friend’s dinner party, and the series charts what comes next as the unlikely lovers navigate new, unfamiliar terrain.

It all sounds terribly earnest and dull, but believe me when I tell you: this 10-episode series, which also stars a fabulous supporting cast including Veep’s Timothy Simons and Succession’s Justine Lupe, is anything but.

In fact, it’s addictively, compulsively and spectacularly watchable.

“This show is based on the only good decision I ever made: falling for a nice ******* boy,” the show’s creator Erin Foster recently told

’s Tudum website.

“But I realised that being happy is way ******* than being ********** — there’s nothing to complain about.

“So, I created this show based on all the ways that finding the right person can be so hard.”

This is sure to be catnip to those of us (me!) who can’t walk past a good old-fashioned rom-com.

Smelling salts to the ready: you’re about to swoon for this one.

This series, from Lost executive producers and starring Harold Perrineau, has flown under the radar for a few years now, getting lost in the chat of *******, more buzzed-about shows.

Which is a shame because it’s terrific.

It tells the story of a strange, nightmarish town: once you enter, you never, ever leave, and all sorts of unspeakably horrible things stalk the inhabitants.

It’s hard to know what’s actually going on. There are jump-scares aplenty, and the whole thing is beset with this eerie feeling of everything being wildly off-kilter and not quite right — it’s extremely disquieting.

Season three starts this week, and trust us: you’ll want to get among it.

Do we still all hate Ellen? Or is she on her way to redeeming herself? Hard to tell, but chances are this stand-up special, her first in six years, will be doing some heavy lifting to ensure the latter.

Wait, this show’s on again? I’m so confused. But I’m also not complaining: it’s reliably chortle-worthy, and this time Aaron Chen, Concetta Caristo, Mel Buttle, Pete Helliar and Rhys Nicholson are bringing the lols. A stacked line-up, so we’re in good hands.

Brad Pitt and George Clooney — that’s it. That’s the review. No, but seriously: these two are much too famous and awesome to put their names to a plonker, so you can be fairly sure this ****** ******’s not a dud. Great Friday night zone-out viewing.
