Admiration Express chasing more spoils in Boulder Cup

Karnup trainer Jason Miller’s bid for back-to-back success with Admiration Express in Sunday’s $125,000 Blue Spec Drilling Boulder Cup (2116m) is on track after she drew barrier five.

The mare scored a gutsy win a fortnight ago in the $100,000 Coolgardie Tyre Service Coolgardie Cup (1760m) and on Friday was quoted on TABtouch at $4.

Clint Johnston-Porter again takes the ride.

Equal favourites — the Simon Miller-trained Iowa and Starry Heights for Grant and Alana Williams — were both at $2.70.

Starry Heights was second in the Coolgardie Cup as the $2.30 favourite.

The Williams’ training combination are in familiar territory after Villeins won last year’s Boulder Cup with William Pike aboard.

Leading trainer Peter Fernie, who was successful in 2019 with Gangbuster, has Red Cadillac ($26) and Utgard Loki ($41) engaged.

Sunday’s eight-event card starts at 12.43pm.
