Perth Lynx beat Sydney Flames at HoopsFest but kids took centre stage in first week of pre-season training

Perth Lynx coach Ryan Petrik says HoopsFest has been scheduled too early for WNBL teams to perform at a high standard after he fielded a group of youngsters in his team’s 69-63 win over Sydney Flames.

WNBL clubs only began pre-season training on Wednesday and most teams have brought young players to Perth because their stars are either still playing overseas or aren’t match fit. Sydney sent their Future Flames squad.
