How to Beat the Supermarket Manager in ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster

Early on in ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster, you’ll visit Seon’s Food & Stuff in the North Plaza, which is still under construction and overrun by zombies. Your goal is to acquire medicine for Brad, but something—or someone—is standing in your way. Enter Steven Chapman, the Supermarket Manager in ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster—a psychopath who despises shoplifting. Here’s how to beat this portly boss!

How to Defeat Steven Chapman, the Supermarket Manager, in ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster

You’ll face several psychopaths during your ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster playthrough, but few stick with you quite like Steven Chapman. The supermarket manager despises thieves and accuses you of attempting to shoplift supplies from his shop. You must beat him to unlock the pharmacy in the back to complete Medicine Run!

Early in the ******, you’re likely unsure of yourself and how to take Steven down. You might have a handgun, which will help you carve away his health if you can nail headshots. Body shots don’t appear to deal much damage and are a waste of ammunition. If you keep your distance, he’ll charge you with the ******* Cart, which deals a ton of damage, or pull out a shotgun and blast you, which deals damage and staggers you. As such, I recommend you use the cold refrigerator units in the back of the store, as shown in the screenshot above, to hide behind and take potshots. When you see him pull the shotgun, time it correctly and dodge to either side. He’ll miss his shot, leaving him open for an ******* of your own.

Steven is highly susceptible to melee attacks. While keeping your distance is necessary, especially early in the ******, as you learn his moves and pathing, you will want to attempt to flank and swing on the supermarket manager. If you wait until he charges, then dodge to either side, you can get up quickly enough to land a hit or two while he recovers. Alternatively, do as I did and hide around the corner of an aisle or across one of the cold units in the back of the store. He’ll race at you, miss, and open himself to melee attacks.

Be wary, however. Steven will whip the cart around in a semi-circle if you’re too close, slamming the ******* on its side into you. The force will send you flying and deal severe damage!

If you’re running low on weapons and want to keep a little distance between you and Steven’s cart, the last aisle in the store features many canned goods that act as throwing weapons. You can pick one can up at a time, aim, and launch the item at Steven’s head. It won’t deal too much damage, but it’s enough to finish the ****** or give you some breathing room!

Despite having what appear to be makeshift flamethrowers on the front of his cart, Steven never utilizes such technology during the boss ******. He’ll instead choose to ram you with the battery ram-like vehicle, slicing and dicing his way through Frank using the pitchfork attachment on the front.

Keep whittling away at the supermarket manager, and you’ll end the ****** in no time flat!

Rewards for Beating the Supermarket Manager

For defeating the supermarket manager, you’ll receive the Pharmacy Key, which unlocks the back room so that you can score medical supplies for Brad. You’ll also receive 30,000 PP and the ******* Cart, though you can’t bring it with you. As such, if you wish to use the ******* Cart, you must return to Seon’s Food & Stuff, which will now be overrun with zombies moving forward, and you can mow them down with the makeshift battering ram!
