Incredible Fallout 4 Mod is Bringing 1 of the Franchise’s Classic Games to Life in 3D

It’s not simply sprucing up old textures and sounds, it’s rebuilding Fallout 2 from the ground up, bringing it to life in glorious 3D using Fallout 4‘s engine. This means a whole new level of immersion and excitement for fans of the classic game.

Regarding the game’s content, Arroyo isn’t just sticking to the script. The team promises to include cut content and elements from the Restoration Project, along with plenty of new locations to explore. But don’t worry, everything will stay true to the lore of the game’s universe.

Due to legal reasons, all the voice lines will be redone from scratch. But don’t fret, the team is committed to capturing the essence of the original dialogue. Plus, it’s using the Extended Dialogue Interface mod to bypass Fallout 4‘s dialogue option cap.

Even those iconic low-intelligence dialogue options are making a comeback. And for non-English speakers, translations will likely come after the English release.

The team is primarily focused on creating standalone content. And sorry, but driving the Highwayman in real-time is off the table for now. Blame it on Fallout 4‘s loading system and the sheer complexity of building a new physics engine.

Project Arroyo is an Astronomically Large Affair

Not all features can be adapted, but the team is doing their best.

Project Arroyo will be PC-exclusive because of storage limitations on consoles and the use of F4SE.

The game will include Home Plate-styled player homes, though large exterior building areas are not currently in the cards. You’ll have free rein to add your own settlement systems post-release.

And yes, you’ll be able to play after the ending, though don’t expect a ton of new content post-credits. As for voice actors, they’ll be recruiting eventually, but not quite yet. And for music lovers, all tracks from the original Fallout 2 OST will be remade for copyright reasons.

Onto the world space. Project Arroyo is expanding existing locations and shrinking areas of little significance to create a seamless playable area twice the size of Fallout 4.

As for the release date, the creators remain tight-lipped, so don’t hold your breath for a release anytime soon.
