Silent Hill 1 Remake Shouldn’t Ignore a Forgotten Character That Fans Believe Deserves His Own Story

With Silent Hill 2’s remake right around the corner, fans are excited to see how Bloober Team revives this beloved horror classic. With the developers listening carefully to feedback and promising to retain the eerie atmosphere and characters of the original, it’s poised to be nothing but a thrilling return of the series to the mainstream.

But while most fans are very excited to get their hands on the second game’s remake, many more also hope that a remake of the first title will follow soon after all the current projects are completed, which may hopefully include content from the lesser-known Play Novel, ensuring that no part of the lore is left behind as the series makes a complete comeback.

If Konami Even Focuses on a Silent Hill 1 Remake, Andy’s Story Must Not Be Ignored

Suppose the gods at Konami decide to bless us with a remake of Harry’s adventure, and it has the same level of polish that the second game’s remake seems to carry. In that case, there’s one character fans believe shouldn’t be ignored: Andy, a quiet seven-year-old boy from the Play Novel.

His story, which saw him witness Cheryl and Alessa’s mysterious meeting and then sneak into Harry’s car all the way to the titular town, could serve as a nice B story to the primary narrative alongside Cybil’s story.

Andy’s connection to Cheryl and Alessa makes him more integral than he might initially appear. In a town where children are almost always safe from its occult and horrific side, Andy’s perspective could add a ton of depth to the series’ overarching lore.

After all, he’s more or less similar to Henry Townshend in that he realistically has no reason to be haunted by titular town but gets involved in things nonetheless. Including him in a remake would not only honor the Play Novel but also preserve a part of the lore that’s nearly been forgotten.

Put simply, it’s an intriguing story thread with wider implications on the series’ lore that nearly became lost media due to the limitations of the GBA system in holding chapter data, which, in turn, makes it a perfect candidate to be included in a remake.

Silent Hill 1 Deserves a Similar Treatment as the Upcoming Silent Hill 2 Remake

While James’ disturbing journey into the town is receiving a well-deserved remake, many find themselves somewhat perturbed by Konami’s decision to skip what is arguably the franchise’s most important game and jump straight to the second game.

Look, it makes sense that the second game is getting a remake first, considering how, with its relevance and popularity, it’s Konami’s best shot at reviving the series.

But some respect needs to be paid to the first game—after all, its occult-laden story and groundbreaking presentation ***** the foundation for everything that would follow.

Given what Bloober Team has accomplished with Silent Hill 2, it would undoubtedly be a dream come true if a remake of the first game received the same level of attention and care.

Just imagine the original’s fog-drenched streets, otherworldly creatures, and nightmarish storytelling reimagined for current-gen consoles, immersing both new and old players in the unsettling town. If done right, a remake of the first game could be an instant all-timer in the making.

Unfortunately, Bloober Team has clarified that they were only interested in remaking the second game, so one can only hope that some other competent developer takes up the mantle and give the fans what they deserve.
