WA pace sensation Mahli Beardman earns shock *********** call-up after Xavier Bartlett injury

West *********** speedster Mahli Beardman has earned a bolt-from-the-blue call-up to Australia’s one-day international squad.

Beardman, who has played just one game of 50-over cricket for his State, was rushed to England on Monday ahead of a five-match series which starts on Thursday night (AWST).

The West *********** understands the 19-year-old has been included largely as a development opportunity, but is not without a chance of making a shock debut.

Xavier Bartlett was injured during a three-match Twenty20 series Australia drew 1-1.

Beardman, from Margaret River in WA’s south, continues the incredible string of quicks from the State involved in national programs.
