North Dakota Highway Patrol seeks information related to Sept. 15 motorcycle ****** that injured Jamestown man

Sep. 15—FORT RANSOM, N.D. — The North Dakota Highway Patrol is seeking information from motorcycle riders participating in a Sept. 15 run that originated in Jamestown related to a ****** that seriously injured a Jamestown man.

The patrol said in a news release issued Sunday, Sept. 15, that the motorcycle ****** that injured Monte Rodacker, 63, occurred at 3:21 p.m. Sunday in the 6300 block of 119th Avenue Southeast in Ransom County, about 5 miles southwest of Fort Ransom.

The patrol said a group of approximately 300 motorcycles was traveling northbound together on 119th Avenue Southeast toward Fort Ransom as part of a Sept. 11 tribute run that had started in Jamestown.

A Honda Shadow operated by Rodacker was traveling in the middle of this group. A group of motorcycles including a trike-style motorcycle passed Rodacker at a high rate of speed, the patrol said. Once in front of Rodacker, this same motorcycle group rapidly deployed its brakes as the group tried to negotiate a curve on the roadway.

Rodacker was forced to initiate an abrupt brake deployment to avoid a collision with the motorcycles that had just passed him and was thrown from his motorcycle onto the roadway. He sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Lisbon, North Dakota, prior to being airlifted to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is asking for assistance from any motorcycle riders who were participating in the Sept. 11 memorial run who may have observed the ****** that occurred regarding Rodacker. Specifically, the patrol is seeking the identity of the person who was operating the trike motorcycle that passed Rodacker.

Anyone with information should contact the North Dakota Highway Patrol during normal business hours at 701-328-2447 and after business hours at 701-328-9921, attention North Dakota Highway Patrol Sgt. Andrew Cashin.
