Police on scene at Sydney airport after bus ****** puts man in hospital

Police are on scene at Sydney International Airport after a bus ****** at the departure zone put an elderly man in hospital.

Emergency services rushed to the airport about 6.40am on reports a pedestrian had been struck by a minibus along Departure Plaza, outside the airport.

Paramedics treated a 75-year-old man at the scene and then took him to St George Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

“Officers from South Sydney Police Area Command established a ****** scene and are awaiting the arrival of specialist police from the ****** Investigation Unit,” the police said on Monday morning.

“The male driver of the vehicle has been taken to Mascot Police Station and is assisting with inquiries.”

The ****** shut down one lane along Departure Place and the airport suffered through major traffic delays in the early morning.

“The area is expected to remain a ****** scene for a considerable amount of time and motorists are urged to avoid the area,” the police said.
