Astro **** MiniBoss Guide: How to Beat Blunderjaw

Fans of the Horizon series could predict how to beat Blunderjaw. But, for those facing defeat against this tyrant of a machine, this Blunderjaw guide should be all you need to hit the target every time!

This boss can be found at the Machine Learning level in Astro ****. The entire level is designed to resemble the settings and locales of the Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West series, and the boss at the end also functions similarly to those machines!

As Astro **** glides into the level, those familiar with the Horizon games are already going to spot many references. We see Tallneck striders and also the iconic Golden Gate Bridge location that the player finds in the second title by Guerilla Games. But those are pretty subtle compared to the reference we see as we arrive at the landing zone.

A few steps into the level, the player will come across an archer trying to save a bunny **** using her bow to take out three foes. Once this archer spots Astro, she throws over the bow for the player to use, similar to how they get the Leviathan Axe from Kratos **** in the **** of War level. Now, Astro can take out threats from a distance.

Each time Astro aims with the bow, time slows down, allowing the player to perfectly line up their shot. Aside from using the bow to take out enemies, Astro will also need to use the arrows to activate switches to progress in the level. From changing the orientation of metal beams to creating grind rails, the arrow is a multifunctional tool that will prove useful to the end of the level.

The settings will keep changing, with Astro even descending into Cauldrons similar to the Horizon games. The enemies in this level are also in line with the reference title, sporting a more shiny, robotic look.

As the player makes it through the Cauldron, they will come out onto a beach filled with turtles. Once you hop onto the back of one of them and it moves forward, the Blunderjaw will come crashing through the cliff behind you, and the battle begins.

This boss battle will take place entirely on the back of your friendly turtle. Whether it’s swimming for its life or your own is up for debate, but it’s up to you to make sure you both come out of this adventure alive, as Astro doesn’t usually have other bots helping him during his boss battles. The Blunderjaw, a play on the Thunderjaw, has attacks and weaknesses similar to its counterpart.

The first ******* from the machine will be to launch an exploding projectile from its mouth at Astro. The player can make this explode in midair by ********* it with an arrow before it lands. Do this twice, and the Blunderjaw will rear back in exhaustion and expose its first weak point on its chest. Aim for this glowing target, and you’ll have landed your first *****.

The Blunderjaw will then catch up once again, land on your right, and launch another barrage of projectiles, this time two at once. It also has two weak points that must now be hit, one on the shoulder and the other on the leg. Hit them quickly, as they will extract into its body if you take too long to land your hits.

The machine will catch up to you a third time and chase you from the left. However, this time, it will launch a silo of five exploding projectiles, so you’ll have to be quick with your aim and trigger finger. ****** them when they group up a little, and you’ll be able to take out two with a single arrow. Hit the two weak points, same as before, and you’ll have downed the Blunderjaw!
