After Space Marine 2, One of the Best Star Wars Games of the Decade Abandons Denuvo

Many games these days have taken the step to appoint additional software to restrict piracy. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is surely one of them. Released in 2023 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows, this title serves as the sequel to Fallen Order.

The game is hugely popular for its stunning graphics, captivating gameplay, and intricate storyline. But one thing that has always been a concern about the game is its anti-tampering software, Denuvo DRM. However, fans are finally going to be relieved from it.

9 for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. This patch comes with a lot of performance improvements, quality-of-life updates, and crucial bug fixes. But one major change that has been brought up by this patch is abandoning the Denuvo DRM software from the game. Now what does this software do exactly?

It’s a digital rights management system from an Austrian company called Denuvo Software Solutions GmbH that prevents unauthorized copying and distribution of the game and its DLCs. In simple words, it prevents people from messing around with in-game processes, which stops piracy.

This software has already been implemented by many popular gaming franchises, like Resident Evil and Far Cry. Now another question might arise in your mind. Why was this system disbanded? Despite being used in many games, Denuvo DRM has faced a lot of criticism from all parts of the gaming community.

The major reason for this backlash is its high usage of the CPU and the potential risk of damaging SSD devices by writing on the storage component. However, the Austrian company has denied all these claims.

Initially, Respawn announced that the Denuvo DRM would be utilized for a few days after the game’s release, which later on prolonged to the day before the release of Patch 9. There is also no explanation from Respawn as to why it removed this system from the game.

In this regard, the recently launched Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 didn’t include the feature at all, from the very beginning. And this time, just like Respawn, developers from Saber Interactive didn’t want to explain the reason for this exclusion.

The recently launched patch has brought a lot of new features and fixes. First of all, there have been a lot of improvements on the gradually fluctuating framerates for various hardware configurations.

Also, Ray Tracing has now been optimized for CPU usage and will now perform better with high-end GPUs. The performance issue with using a mouse as a gameplay unit has also been fixed.

Coming to the QoL features, the “Optimizing Game Files” screen has better optimization now with increased speeds for multiple CPU cores. Besides this, mouse and keyboard functionality has been improved across a variety of menu screens, like the title menu, game menu, and workbench.

Last but not least, Patch 9 has fixed several bugs, for example, the collision issue where players used to fall through elevators due to low framerates or the sudden game ****** while walking away from a conversation with an NPC
